    NJ Continuing Education Requirements

New Jersey requires licensed and certified appraisers to complete continuing education hours every two-year renewal cycle, including a mandatory USPAP update course and NJ-specific law module.

The current cycle requires 28 hours for certified appraisers (24 for trainees), including 7 hours of USPAP Update, 4 hours of NJ Law, and 17 hours of elective courses from approved providers. Up to 50% of hours can be completed through live online courses, with self-paced courses capped at 14 hours. Failure to complete CE by the renewal deadline results in license lapse. Appraisers can check their CE status and renewal requirements through the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs website.
